CS Everyone Attends 2025 UTeach STEM Educators Conference

May 28, 2025

Panel discussion scene: three people in business attire are seated—left participant in a wheelchair, center speaker holding a microphone on a patterned sofa, and right participant in a light-blue suit—around a small table with flowers and a water bottle; behind them a screen reads “Florida K‑12 AI Education Task Force: The Power and Challenges of AI in the Classroom.”

On 5/21/25 Dr. Michael J. Johnson, postdoctoral research associate, spoke at the UTeach Texas Conference with collaborators Dr. Kristen Apraiz, NJ Lacambra, and Pratyush Kulkarni. They presented the session,  “You Have CS Students in Your UTeach Program…Now What?”. Findings from the presentation addressed the problem that while computer science is expanding across all forms of education, there remains insufficient information on how to successfully prepare pre-service teachers for teaching CS. The presenters discussed how to equip teachers and educators with strategies to incorporate CS education into UTeach courses.
