The UF CS Everyone Center was busy this year during Computer Science Education week!
We broadcast a new webinar on Dec 10th entitled, Hour of AI: Translating Florida’s New Standards into K-12 Action. This was a timely discussion, unpacking Florida’s new Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Standards. This expert panel was convened r in order to guide educators and administrators through those new standards. Our colleague Alexis Cobo presented two different sessions at the CSTA Palm Beach / Broward CS Ed Week Event on December 13th. Both AI In the Classroom: What Parents Need to Know and Working Group on Best Practices for Teachers: The FL K-12 AI Education Task Force were presented to our Task Force members. This important working session was a focused meeting targeting key updates to ensure that the taskforce maintains momentum on its key initiatives.
Director Maya Israel spoke with other panelists Jessica Espinosa, Ph.D., Roberto Alonso, and Gloria Rodriguez at the Miami-Dade College School of Education Fireside Chat and AI Retreat for Educators on December 13th. This retreat explored human-centered ways to use AI to support teaching, amplify student voices, and strengthen learning. Thank you Miami-Dade College for hosting this event and allowing teachers to learn more about how to use an AI-enabled future for the benefit of their students.
